VinItaly.
if you know anything about wine, or even just like wine, you should really check this out at www.vinitaly.com. the photo gallery gives a way better idea of what this scene was like than my 5 little pics and it's amazing to read about how huge this fair really is...

the raddest restaurant i've seen in foreeeeeeeever. an upside down olive grove!
tasting, talking, fashion watching (check out dino's suit), and taking notes on it all...

okay, so we were at VinItaly for 3 days... each day having the pleasure of being accompanied (more like, led through the disneyland-like maze of this giant gathering of 4,300 wine producers!) by someone who works closely with Pane e Salute on the wine side of things... never have a learned so much about wines or tasted so many... on the third day we tasted 74 different wines and finished off the "session" with 6 or so grappa. one of which was made with lemon and stinging nettles, the nettles still resting with a see-through yellowish tinge at the bottom of the bottle. wow. i also had the pleasure of tasting a borolo older than me... a 1982. i didn't think it got much better than that until they brought forth the 1967 and poured me a little glass. it was all so much...  the colors, the smells, the people, in the information, the jokes... the experience. god am i lucky and i'll never forget it.
